LEONARDO DA VINCI - Tuscany Painter, scientist, architect, Leonardo da Vinci is undoubtedly the genius of renaissance whose discoveries were decisive for the evolution of the humanity. Leonardo was born in Vinci, not far from Florence, and here, as well as throughout Tuscany, we can breathe its history and see its inventions and masterpieces. This itinerary between Milan and the area of Florence retraces the most important places of Leonardo and, since we are in Italy, it is enriched with food and wine experiences to make you fully live the territory.
DAY 1 : Milan Arrival at a 5* Hotel in the centre of Milan (Hotel Bulgari or similar). Walking tour of the city. Starting from the complex of the Duomo and the Royal Palace of Milan, you will arrive at the historical Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, the Ambrosian art gallery house of the famous Leonardo da Vinci “Atlantic Code”. Then, you will visit the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, which hosts probably the most known work of the artist: “The last supper”. Gourmet dinner at “Cracco Restaurant”, 2 Michelin Stars, which offers an innovative cousin combining the traditions of the city with innovative techniques and its unique wine cellars of 1800 labels. Overnight at Hotel 5*****
DAY 2 : Milan - Florence After breakfast, private transfer to Florence (about 3 hours). Lunch in a typical “trattoria”, for a first touch with the Tuscan kitchen. In particular, Florence is famous for “lampredotto”, typical poor dish based on one of the four sections of the stomach of cattle called the “abomaso”, “trippa”, mix of different parts of the stomach and intestines of the bovine, and, of course, the “bistecca fiorentina”, called also T-bone steak. Guided tour of the city: the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Piazza Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio and so on. Visit of the museum of Palazzo Strozzi. Dinner at Obicà Mozzarella and Bar. Overnight at 5* Hotel.
DAY 3 : Florence After breakfast, visit of the famous Uffizi Gallery, where you will admire the masterpieces of the most famous Italian artists, as the “Venere” and the “Primavera” of Botticelli. In 2018 the new room dedicated to the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci was inaugurated with the intent of recreating the atmosphere that was breathed in Florence in 1504, year in which the city was enveloped in art, thanks to the presence not only of Leonardo da Vinci, but also of Michelangelo and Raffaello Sanzio. In the room, therefore, it is possible to find 3 great works by the artist da Vinci, that is, the Baptism of Christ, the Adoration of the Magi and the Annunciation. Alternative lunch at “Antico Vinaio”, the most reviewed restaurant in the world, famous for his stuffed “focaccia”. In the afternoon, visit of Palazzo Vecchio. The “Battaglia di Anghiari” is the most famous unfinished work of the Genius of Vinci. Commissioned by the Signoria of Florence in 1503, it was to represent the battle won by the Florentines against the Milanese in 1440 and was to decorate an entire wall of the Salone dei Cinquecento. Leonardo found himself forced to interrupt his work because of a defect in the painting he was using, and his remains were lost in the successive transformations of the hall. Free time for shopping. Dinner at the luxury restaurant of Helvetia&Bristol Starhotel Collection, called “Bristol Winter Garden”. Overnight at 5***** Hotel.
DAY 4 : Chianti - Florence After breakfast, transfer to Vignamaggio, a beautiful villa in Chianti. The legend says that here lived Monna Lisa Gherardini and that the hills on the skyline of the Leonardo da Vinci’s “Gioconda” painting are the same hills where the Villa is located. Wine tasting and light lunch here. Return to Florence and visit of Giardino di Boboli and Palazzo Pitti. Overnight at 5***** Hotel.
DAY 5 : Vinci - Florence After breakfast, transfer to Vinci, the hometown of Leonardo da Vinci. Visit of the house where Leonardo was born, in Anchiano, just near Vinci. The house is now a technologic museum with a audio-visual narrative “Leonardo a Vinci: un genio si racconta”, that uses modern three-dimensional technology to revive Leonardo and his most intimate and personal universe, but also his relationship with the Vincian and Montalbano territory. Lunch at Molino della Doccia, after a tour of their oil mill, where is produced a spectacular extra-virgin olive oil. Visit of the “Leonardian museum” in Vinci. Return in Florence, free dinner and overnight at Hotel 5*****.
DAY 6 : Florence - departure After breakfast, free time in Florence. Departure.
